Guru Gopinath Natanagramam is an elite cultural institution under the Department of Culture, Government of Kerala. The name comes after the late Dr. Guru Gopinath, a pioneer performer in Kathakali and the Maestro of Kerala Natanam. More than a cultural institution, Natanagramam is now enhanced to a centre of Academic Excellence and Research Destination in Indian Classical Dance forms.
This is the only Cultural Institution in Kerala that presents a National award 'Natyapuraskaram' to an outstanding personality in the field of Indian Classical Dance annually. Natanagramam also organizes eminent dancers' performances, promoting interstate cultural exchange and thereby contributing to the National integration of India. Through providing training in many art forms and facilitating performance regionally, Natanagramam stands as a national centre for integrated development in the field of Indian classical dance.
